Refund Policy
We’re grateful for every gift. This policy explains how donation refund requests are reviewed and how to contact us if a mistake occurs.

Thank you for supporting The American Interactive Games Institute (AIGI). Your contribution helps fund STEM/STEAM game education, learning experiences, and career pathway opportunities for the students and communities we serve.
Because charitable gifts are used to support mission-driven programs and organizational operations, all donations are generally considered final. However, we understand that mistakes can happen. This Refund Policy explains how refund requests are reviewed and handled.
1. Donations Are Generally Non-Refundable
Donations made to AIGI are voluntary charitable contributions and are generally non-refundable.
Once a donation is processed, funds may be allocated toward program planning, educational materials, student access, operations, or other mission-related needs. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that a donation can be refunded.
2. When a Refund May Be Considered
AIGI may review refund requests on a case-by-case basis when there is a clear processing error or donor mistake, such as:
A duplicate donation
An incorrect donation amount entered by mistake
A donation made by an unauthorized user
A technical or payment processing issue
Another documented error related to the transaction
Submitting a refund request does not guarantee that a refund will be approved.
3. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please contact us as soon as possible at:
Email: contact@americangames.institute
Subject Line: Refund Request
Please include the following information so we can review your request:
Full name used for the donation
Email address used for the donation
Donation date
Donation amount
Payment method used, if known
Reason for the refund request
Donation receipt or transaction confirmation, if available
For security and privacy reasons, please do not send full credit card numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, or sensitive payment credentials by email.
4. Review Timeline
We will make a reasonable effort to review refund requests promptly after receiving the required information.
Additional verification may be needed before a decision can be made. If the donation was processed through Give Lively or another third-party payment processor, timing may also depend on the processor’s refund procedures.
5. Payment Processing Fees
If a refund is approved, the refunded amount may be reduced by non-refundable transaction fees, payment processor fees, or platform-related charges that AIGI does not control.
Some payment processors do not return transaction fees, even when a donation is refunded. In those cases, AIGI may not be able to refund the full original donation amount.
6. Recurring Donations
Donors who set up monthly or recurring donations are responsible for managing or canceling future recurring gifts through the donation platform, donor portal, or by contacting AIGI for assistance.
Canceling a recurring donation stops future payments only. It does not automatically refund donations that have already been processed.
If you believe a recurring donation was processed in error, please contact us using the refund request process above.
7. Event Tickets, Sponsorships, and Restricted Gifts
If AIGI offers event tickets, sponsorships, campaign gifts, program-specific gifts, or other restricted giving opportunities, refund eligibility may vary depending on the nature of the transaction and whether benefits, recognition, goods, services, or program allocations have already been provided or committed.
Restricted gifts and sponsorship contributions are generally non-refundable unless AIGI determines that a refund is appropriate under the circumstances.
8. Tax Receipts and Donor Records
If a donation is refunded, any related charitable tax receipt may no longer be valid for the refunded amount.
Donors are responsible for consulting their own tax advisor regarding the tax treatment of donations, refunds, and charitable deductions. AIGI does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice.
9. Donations Made Through Third-Party Platforms
Some donations may be processed through third-party platforms, such as Give Lively, payment processors, employer matching systems, donor-advised fund providers, or partner giving portals.
Refund procedures may vary depending on the platform used. In some cases, refund requests must be handled through the third-party platform or payment processor. In other cases, AIGI may need to review the request directly.
We will make a reasonable effort to help donors identify the appropriate path for a refund request, but we cannot guarantee refunds controlled by third-party systems.
10. Fraud Prevention and Security
To protect donors and AIGI, we may deny or delay refund requests that appear suspicious, incomplete, inconsistent with our records, or potentially fraudulent.
We may request additional information to verify the identity of the donor or confirm the transaction before taking action.
11. Changes to This Policy
AIGI may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
